What causes capacitors to continuously fail and deform?

Upon inspection, it was found that the facility had a harmonic filter-based compensation project. A 50 kVAr filter and 400V 50 kVAr capacitor were being used, which was incorrect. The correct application should be:
  • For a 50 kVAr filter, use 30 kVAr x 2 units (total 60 kVAr).
  • Capacitors must be 450V.
